FRIENDS has Moved | ||
FRIENDS is thrilled to announce that the office has moved to the new Education Center. Although there is still a little work to be done, the new space is up and running. The new Center provides FRIENDS with the increased space and capacity to build artificial reef balls with students this fall, host presentations by visiting scientists, provide classroom space, hold Discovery Club activities, start a native plant nursery, use the surrounding coppice and pine forest to create a living classroom and educational bird and nature watching trail and much more.
Thank you to everyone who has helped to make this dream a reality. It is going to make a huge difference for FRIENDS’ programs and environmental awareness in Abaco. There are still naming opportunities if you are interested in providing support for the building! | ![]()
So where are we now?????

Please come by and visit anytime. If you are traveling towards the airport on Don McKay Blvd, take a left across from Cost Right (there will be a sign to the office pointing you in the right direction). Instead of following the paved road as it turns left, head straight on the dirt road and go up over a rise. The FRIENDS Education Center is the second building on the left, the first is occupied by Brian Kakuk, the owner and operator of Bahamas Underground, who brought up the first fossils from Abaco’s blue holes.
