Friends of the Environment is hosting Native Plant Fairs throughout the Abacos to educate attendees about invasive and native plant species and to encourage them to remove the invasive species in the area and to replace them with native, environmentally plants. Each fair features informative speakers, hand-painted rain barrel by area artists were auctioned off and each attendee was given a native plant to carry home to plant to better their environment.

This year, native plant fairs have been held in Marsh Harbour, Hope Town and Treasure Cay. They have been well attended by locals as well as visitors. It is felt that the education will be help in the eradication of the top invasive plants in the Abacos- Hawaiian Seagrape, Brazilian Pepper and Australian Pine-Casaurina ssp.
